Wittgenstein Labs emerges from stealth to build intelligence for the physical world

Wittgenstein Labs, a physical intelligence company building AI that lets machines perceive, reason, and act in the real world, today emerged from stealth. The company is incubated at Company Ventures' Terrarium arm and led by Harvard-MIT experts in physical intelligence.

Over the past decade, AI has learned to read, write, and see. What it still cannot do reliably is work: pick up an unfamiliar object, clean a cluttered room, repair a machine, or assist a person who needs help. Closing that gap requires a different kind of intelligence, grounded in physics, touch, and consequence, and a different kind of data to train it.

What Wittgenstein Labs is building

Wittgenstein Labs is focused on three connected areas:

“Language gave AI a way to describe the world. Our work is to give it a way to take part in it: carefully, safely, and in service of the people around it.”The Wittgenstein Labs team

Incubated at Terrarium

Wittgenstein Labs was incubated at Terrarium, the incubation arm of Company Ventures. The founding team brings together Harvard-MIT expertise in physical intelligence, spanning robot learning, perception, and embodied AI.

What's next

With its emergence from stealth, Wittgenstein Labs is expanding its data collection programs, and working with early partners. Organizations interested in data, deployment, research, or hardware partnerships can reach the team at mateusz.firlej@companyventures.com.
